Eritrea, being part of the Nubian-Arabian shield, has significant earth science importance. It is located around the Red Sea Rift– Gulf of Aden Rift – East African Rift Triple junction of the Afar depression and in an area where the earliest human fossil has been recovered. Further more, mineral and petroleum resources are among booming economic findings in the area. The lack of reliable rainfall coupled with the absence of perennial rivers also underline the importance of earth science in the area as it contributes vitally to locate reliable underground water sources in the challenging crystalline basement. This all add up to augment the importance of the area to the YES network and vice versa as there is large number of earth science community and activity. Therefore, this site is set up as a gate way to the YES Network to synchronize the country with the network for better outcome.
